Toronto fence height regulations:

  • Front yard: Maximum 1.0m (3.3 ft)
  • Side yard (front portion): Maximum 1.0m
  • Side yard (rear portion): Maximum 2.0m (6.6 ft)
  • Rear yard: Maximum 2.0m (6.6 ft)

Property Lines

  • Fences should be built ON your property line or within your property
  • Get a survey if you're unsure of property boundaries
  • Communicate with neighbors about shared fences
  • "Good side" facing out is customary but not required

Pool Fences

Swimming pool enclosures have specific requirements:

  • Minimum height: 1.5m (5 ft)
  • Self-closing, self-latching gates
  • No gaps greater than 100mm (4 inches)
  • May require building permit
